Nope he's talking about his own fan site being redesigned.

Hey there Orlock! I can't help but think that there must be ways to get word out about the board. It seemed to have a huge potential for bringing together fringe people with cool attitudes.

I haven't been to the board in a while because of all of the crazy posts done that seemed to miles worth of gibberish and foreign symbols. Anyway this used to be one of my favorite sites but honestly none of the Elvira sites get enough attention. The "Official Site" is always a day late and a dollar short so to speak. News is rarely posted and when it is it is usually old news. It can not be accessed by the iphone and while it is slightly flashier in design it really lost a lot of the cool information (like the career highlights section). The MySpace is just a glorified guest book with very little useful information. Back to this site: I am sad to see there are no plans to update Manor Macabre but I also know there is a lot of work in keeping a website like this updated. Things I wish some site would address are upcoming projects with projected release dates i.e. when are the next wave of Movie Macabre titles to be released on DVD? When is the Double Feature Elvira Mistress of the Dark/Elvira's Haunted Hills to be released since it missed the October deadline was missed? I wonder about the Elvira's Monster Match N Stack computer game release that was intended for two Octobers ago? Is the animated Elvira project still in the works? What about the Elvira Halloween special that was to tie her into Halloween lore? And is the Army of Elvira's still being built to take over malls everywhere on Halloween? So many questions and too little answers. I know the time will eventually come where Cassandra will hang up the ole wig and gown but I wish that she would make the most of the final years of her portrayal of the character because let's face it...there is only one person who can truly be Elvira. No matter how wonderful the impersonation by April, Patterson, Christian or whomever takes on the Elvira persona, it still seems to miss that special something that just can not be duplicated. That is not meant as disrespect to those who put so much into their illusion but I am sure each would echo my sentiments about our beloved Cassandra as Elvira. I suggest we start getting more people involved in showing interest in Elvira by maybe e-mailing Elvira's management, Shout!Factory, Anchor Bay, and anyone else who might need to know that there is still a huge interest in Elvira material. If anyone doubts this just go to sideshowcollectibles or Tonner Dolls to see how many people are still willing to drop a chunk of change on cool Elvira junk!

Breather, I'm glad you're breathing. The main thing for me is that people come here and let their Elvira freak flags fly. Me, I have zero in the way of disposable income. I'm on a very low fixed Disability income. Therefore, I don't see promotion of Elvira consumer goods as an answer to anything in particular, though I hope to get my mitts on Movie Macabre someday.

Unfortunately there does not seem to be a lot of opportunities for Elvira on television anymore so merchandising is the one way to keep her in public sight. I remember a day when you couldn't go to the store without seeing Elvira Coor's cut-outs, posters, promos, Elvira Thriller video VHS boxes, and promos stuff, commercials, Elvira's House of Mystery comics, games, newpaper ads for her Movie Mac, magazine articles, etc.....etc.....etc.....We just need to get her back in the spotlight so for me merchandising would be logical. Also the profit from the merchandise is necessary to get another movie in the works I am sure. If you remember Haunted Hills was funded by Cassandra herself which I attribute to a lull of Elvira in the public eye. There has to be public interest if a studio is to fund an Elvira project. I am ashamed to say I do spend too much on Elvira collectibles. I am fortunate enough to have a "movie room" that has a macabre theme to it with a whole wall dedicated to Elvira's Movie Macabre including an Elvira custom mannequin and a lifesize Crypt Keeper. I have collected Elvira stuff since I was in 5th grade thanks to a super cool uncle bringing me the first lifesized promo from Coors around 87 and continues to 09.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that new successes on television would have to come first before merchandising. Once people know you from a show, then they might buy tie-in products based on that. How well did that Serarch for the Next Elvira do I wonder?

Hey everyone. I know you're all shocked to see me back! Just imagine seeing my front! Anyway, seriously though, I'm in the midst of working out the details to make elviramistressofthedark.com a super cool new site with "Manor Macabre" being a side feature which will include a lot of what I've already got going, only in a sleeker design and format. As for all the questions, I couldn't even begin to imagine where to start answering. I do have some answers though... All the projects Elvira's talked about, are still in the works but seem to be on a back burner. I don't speak with her as much as I used to, schedules being what they are now but she's still going full steam on some stuff under the radar. The Search for the Next Elvira is impossible to gage in success. When it came out on Fox Reality, there was no way to determine the raitings. That particular network was not on the group of networks that get monitored. However the production company claims it did really well. They wanted to do a second season but from what I understand (this is not quoting Cassandra) there was a major dissapointment from some of the higher-ups, in the production and the final outcome which put the axe in the possibility of future seasons. I could go into more detail but I'm saving that for later. As for Elvira making a return to the public eye in a way all the fans would love... It doesn't look very realistic. Cassandra has many times proclaimed that she loves hosting films, that she doesn't mind going on camera and doing her schtick. However films are super expensive now, and the demand for Elvira is very low in the mainstream. Her personality and humor is extremely dated and very passé with todays youth. It's really unfortunate, but Elvira simply wouldn't be able to make it the way she has always been in todays market. This is why there's always been a struggle to get anything Elvira related back onto the mainstream. She's just too..... 80's. It would take a major 80's revival to bring her back, but even then it would only be shortlived. Anyways, I'm off. Got a lot to do today but I wanted to drop by. Hopefully I'll continue to have freetime and I'll get something wicked put together here.

I feel thoroughly depressed. I just don't understand the too 80s thing ! The characters good no matter what decade ! If someone would just giver her a chance. And some decent material to work with. People descover Elvira everyday. I know I did. Four months ago I had no idea who she was, now I'm a huge fan! I saw a standee of her in an episode of Lois and Clark typed her into youtube and BANG!!! another Elvira fan was born. The dated stuff is nonsense, I'm 21 am I not considered "youth". She's just to cool to lose Maybe Elvira could be considered retro and made cool for that reason. It's worse for us Brits as we hardly get any Elvira stuff as it is

Hey there PL! I don't see Elvira as being particularly characteristic of the '80s. I hated the '80s! I mean, why not see her as some sort of cool, maybe Goth-y, mocking figure, letting the hot air out of things.... you know, there's some sort of new horror-host movie out now. That sort of thing isn't over. I'm on a Dark Shadows board where a very current horror hostess called Penny Dreadful has a bit of air time... not much, because in fact she was too new to be included much... the film had been done for the most part before they knew about her. She's highly cool with a great sense of humor.
If Elvira's thing is over, then I say we're done as a species. Maybe we are, but I think Elvira mocking horror films with that cool spirit and humor doesn't belong to any specific time. All that's needed is the effrontery to put Elvira out there, in the right way.
