Yep...I was rather disappointed as well. I think my exact words to Dreary were something like: That really looks quite awful. It looks like a man in drag, and not like Patterson, some really bad drag.... I hope they fix that thing up a bit before making it available to the public. The dress is even off quite a bit from the real thing. I would be willing to save up and buy one if it looked more like her, but NOT that one...lol...He said that is the prototype with no makeup and no jewelry or anything, so there may still be a bit of hope...possibly....maybe...so yeah...lol...

It looks pretty good. However, her belt and knife hopefully will come with it and that neckline of her dress isn't correct. Wasn't her dress slit a little higher?
Is this a prototype correct?

According to the Scare Parts manager this is the prototype. The final product will have a dagger with the belt along with all of Elvira's traditional jewelery. Also included will be a pewter necklace piece. If I am not mistaken it will be like the skull cross neclace worn in one of her calendar photos. She will also come with a base to stand on that is decorated with skull ornaments.

None of that matters if she still looks like a drag queen.

I totally agree. I wish someone would produce a really nice product for Elvira. The figure looked like Barbara Streisand in Elvira Drag and that statue doesn't look much better. Don't even get me started on that door greeter or the bobblehead. I must admit that the Tooned Up maquette is beatiful. A lot of the Sharper Image stores carry lifesize commemorative statues of Spiderman and Superman and that is really what I was expecting with the Elvira statue. Really it isn't much more than a mannequin with an Elvira costume. The major difference is most female mannequins don't have square jaw lines. With that being said I doubt there will ever be an official lifesize statue again. I am hoping now that Cassandra is more in control of her character again we will see nicer products more frequently.

It seems that they can't get her face to look right. I've seen tons of stuff out there, but like DrearyDA stated, the Tooned up statue is as close as I've seen to anything that looked proper. I wonder why they can't get her face to look correct. Is that Cass is so beautiful that they can't capture her beauty? Yea, that must be it right?

Or the fact that they don't seem to grasp that her image as Elvira is a combination of her facial structure and the right make-up techniques. Very few people grasp the concept that her make-up is actually a lot more difficult than it looks. Which is why so few toys and models look right. The old Screamin' models look like Cassandra, and look like Elvira if painted correctly. This statue however has the wrong jaw, the wrong cheekbones and the neck is too thick and long. The eyes might pass if the proper eye make-up was painted on, but other than that the ONLY thing that remotely looks right is the wig.
If they want to capture Elvira, they need to do a life cast of Cassandra's face, or use one of the older casts made back in the 80's. Cast it, and then paint it, the proper way. Only then will they have Elvira the way she should look.
Instead we'll have to suffer with mannish drag queen looking statues.

Elvira has a new Halloween costume available in the Fall 2005 issue of The Fright Catalog. Images can be viewed at www.FRIGHTCATALOG.com. SOme things look a little better on the costume and some don't. It does come with a dagger but it still isn't an exact replica of the dagger. OH well what do you expect for $40 I am not sure if this is related to the packaging of the Elvira costume but....I was checking out some of the new packaging art at Cassandra Fever's site and I like the cartoon images. They remind me of the Scared Stiff pinball graphics. Anyway the graphic says "Free full length movie inside!"

The costume looks ok. And the new wig looks similar, but I still prefer the original doo. Try visiting: www.pinball.com/games/stiff/ for Scared Stiff artwork. Some great stuff there.

Although I would really like to see more Elvira toys, statues and calendars in the future, I went and voted for DVDs..Nothing like seeing her in a new movie..That would be fantastic..
