When the spam is deleted, all our posts about the spam are going to look pretty funny, hanging in mid air with no spam to refer to...
Spam does seem to be part of the cobweb-forming process. All I can think is that money somehow changes hands, people are paid for random postings of spam even on boards where there can be no reasonable expectation for sales of whatever it is they're selling.
